In 1842 James Holdaway arrived in Nelson and by 1853 at only 17 years of age he was working in Marlborough. One of his many jobs was driving a bullock dray carrying wool from the Awatere Valley to the Wairau Bar. In 1864 he purchased land in Dillons Point on the lower Wairau plains which he named Lowlands. Now his descendants grow Sauvignon Blanc grapes on this land.
Lowlands Sauvignon Blanc 2016
Lowlands Marlborough Pinot Noir 2013
Lowlands is the wine brand of the Holdaway family-owned and operated company with over 35 years’ grape growing experience in the Dillons Point and Lower Wairau areas of Marlborough, New Zealand. The company has six vineyards covering 150ha, and supplies premium sauvignon blanc and pinot noir grapes. We have blended carefully selected parcels of sauvignon blanc grapes to create our own unique wine.
We have an alternate label ‘Pretty Paddock’ for special small parcels of wine. Pretty Paddock Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2015 is a blended wine from grapes from our Charles Eyles and Opawa vineyards in Lower Wairau and our Lowlands Vineyard in Dillons Point.
